Mission Lookout Tower, May 2019

This started out as a post blog, which I sent live after my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a 21-day mindfulness retreat with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (TNH) in Plum Village back in June 2012, as a way to share about my retreat experience. Then I kept it going because it proved a great way to keep me writing, which I love to do but previously hadn’t made much time for. I include my thoughts and experiences relating to my own everyday path of practice in the mindfulness tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.

My name is Nicole Dunn and I am an ordained member of the Order of Interbeing in the Plum Village tradition and was ordained by TNH in Estes Park, CO in August of 2007 and given the dharma name True Wonderful Flower. I am 40 years old (as of July 2019) and reside in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, where I happily and gratefully practice with the Be Here Now Sangha (community), which I founded in 2002 and continue to serve as program director for. https://www.facebook.com/BeHereNowCommunity/?fref=nf

I write monthly for the Montana Woman magazine for a column called “Mindfulness Matters” and I’m currently working on two non-fiction book projects. I’m also a spoken word artist. Give a free listen to my debut album Bird on a Wire (March 2018), available on my website (see link below). I do other things too but perhaps what is most important is this: I am a human being on the planet trying my best to skillful and kind.

  1. Hello Nicole,

I hope you don’t mind me writing this here, but I’m hoping you can help me… this isn’t spam, I promise!

My name is Richard J. Bartlett and I have my own blog on WordPress, The Last Song I Heard – http://thelastsongiheard.wordpress.com – which I predominantly write for my son.

I’m in the process of writing a book about personal beliefs (or lack, thereof) and was wondering if you’d be interested in contributing.

I’m trying to get viewpoints from a broad range of people, representing a broad range of beliefs, including agnostics and atheists. My goal is for the reader to be presented with new and thought-provoking ideas about our place in the universe and, hopefully, to find some common ground between the different beliefs.

If you’re interested, you can read more about it here – http://thelastsongiheard.wordpress.com/2013/01/04/the-rivers-of-belief-enigma/

I hope you can contribute – I’d love to read your responses!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at thelastsongiheard “at” gmail.com

  2. Your blog is so beautifully written and presented, much like the way your meditation circles are held. You are such a humble person, despite being a huge source of light and inspiration. You’re like the sun itself. You’re also like a sunflower, simply wonderful. Thank you for writing. Thank you for showing up to “Be Here Now” all through the years.

  3. wonderful to receive your bell of mindfulness to connect with the PV winter retreat, again. closing my eyes i can picture being there, as i have several times during the winter. seems we were ordained in estes park at the same time and place which makes you even more of a dharma sister. may you feel warm, happy and safe, david

  6. Hi Nicole ^_^ The Deer Park Monastery posts are changing my February. As they are written in daily serial form -with so many photo views and honest perspectives of your stay- I do feel I get a little vacation! It’s very refreshing. So much sunshine. <3 Love from Debbie (& see you at Be Here Now…)

  8. Hi, I represent a women’s lifestyle brand started as a push for positive and uplifting imagery of woman in today’s media. We saw a lot negative and derogatory things shared through social media and wanted to give women more options in regards in to what type of information that ended up on their pages. My partner Aminah and I, wanted to share information related to positive self imagery, career, education, health and just empowering material. We wanted to highlight the everyday woman therefore, we don’t promote celebrities on our page. We want to motivate and inspire women to be their strong, beautiful and ambitious selves. The idea really evolved, we have 6000 likes in one month and decided to move it to a website and started to develop our own content and material.

There’s a huge community basis to our project we want to support women related causes, support and campaign for women related grassroots movements. And, eventually build our own brand by building materials, t-shirts, books and etc.. We are really at the beginning stages but, we are growing so quickly that we are looking for talent to contribute to the venture.

Were looking to feature you and some of your articles/reviews on our website. Please let me know if you are interested you can contact us via email @ wearebeyoutiful@gmail.com or visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/BeYoutiful/569771189779600?fref=ts&ref=br_tf.

    Thank you,
